How did you get into your industry?

When I was 13, my family borrowed a friend’s video camera for a vacation to Alaska, and I was hooked. I spent the whole trip filming and then taught myself to edit using two VCRs at home. When I decided to go to film school and toured the campus, I knew it was what I wanted to do with my life.

What inspired you to start your agency?

I was inspired by the ability to tell stories that could impact people's lives and the creative freedom it provided. Starting the agency was a natural progression from my passion for filmmaking and storytelling.

How do you manage work-life balance as an agency owner or executive?

Telling a variety of stories about the amazing things our clients are doing in the world makes it easier to balance. I ensure that I'm also spending time working out, playing basketball, and attending concerts to recharge and stay creative.

What is the best piece of advice you've received in your career that pertains to your work, and how has it influenced your decisions?

My parents, who are therapists, taught me the importance of understanding people and building strong relationships. This has been fundamental in my approach to business, emphasizing the value of collaboration and mutual respect.

What activities or hobbies outside of work do you enjoy that help you recharge and stay creative?

Working out, playing basketball, attending concerts, and traveling are some of the activities I enjoy that help me stay balanced and inspired.

What do you like most about your industry?

The teamwork aspect of filmmaking is what I enjoy most. Collaborating with talented individuals to bring a vision to life is incredibly rewarding.

What do you dislike most about your industry?

The challenge of standing out in an oversaturated market is what I dislike most. It requires constant innovation and creativity to make a mark.

If you could make 3-5 changes in your industry, what would they be?

  1. Standardizing industry rates for labor and production costs.
  2. Improving diversity within all levels of the industry.
  3. Encouraging more authentic storytelling that reflects a wider variety of experiences and perspectives.

What do you wish people knew about your industry?

I wish people understood the complexity and effort involved in creating engaging content. It's not just about having a good camera or software but about the creativity, planning, and teamwork required to produce something truly impactful.

Can you share a situation where you had to make a tough business decision and the impact it had on your agency?

Hiring my older sister to handle operations and then having to cut back her hours was a tough decision. It was a challenging period but necessary for the growth and direction of the agency.
