What do you like most about your industry?

What I enjoy most about the web design industry is the opportunity to help businesses and organizations make a real impact through their online presence. There's something incredibly rewarding about collaborating with a client to deeply understand their brand, offerings, and goals, and then bringing their vision to life through a beautifully designed, expertly crafted website. I love seeing the tangible results that a well-executed web project can deliver for a client in terms of increased traffic, leads, and sales.

What is your approach to continuous improvement and learning within your agency?

Staying on top of the latest web design trends, techniques and best practices is crucial in this fast-moving industry. I make a point to consistently seek out opportunities for continuing education - reading industry publications, attending conferences, connecting with peers and monitoring new developments in web technology. I'm a lifelong learner and believe that an openness to new ideas and skills is key for any design agency. My team knows that ongoing professional development is valued and encouraged. We dedicate time each week to explore new topics or techniques relevant to our work. Continuously improving our knowledge ultimately allows us to better serve our clients and their ever-evolving business needs.

What changes have you seen occur since you got into this business?

The web design landscape has changed tremendously since I started out in the late 1990s. In the early days, table-based layouts, font tags, and Flash sites were common - very different from the responsive, mobile-friendly websites of today! It's incredible to see how much the technology has advanced, enabling faster load times, sleeker interfaces, and more dynamic user experiences. The focus has also shifted to be more user-centric and data-driven in how sites are designed. And with the rise of social media and online marketing, a website's role as part of an integrated digital strategy is now understood. Though the tools may change, the fundamentals remain the same - great web design is about skillfully blending form and function to meet business goals.

If a company was looking to hire your firm, or a firm like yours, what questions should they ask themselves as a team before approaching you?

An organization should start by taking an honest look inward and clarifying their core objectives, brand identity, target audiences, content needs and measures for success before seeking out a web design firm. Some helpful questions to ask are:

- What are the business goals we want to accomplish with a new website? Lead generation? Improved client service? Clearer brand messaging?

- Do we have full alignment within our organization around the vision and purpose for this website project?

- What differentiates our brand? How can our website better convey our unique value proposition?

- Do we have the subject matter experts and content resources available to provide the necessary information and materials for the website design process?

- How will we define and track success for the new website? What metrics matter most to our business?

Having clarity on these strategic elements will allow a company to have productive conversations with potential web design partners about how their services and approach can best address the organization's specific needs and ambitions. The more thoughtful preparation on the front-end, the more impactful the ultimate website outcome can be.

When a company is interested in hiring your firm, how should they approach you and how should they do business with you?

The easiest way for a company to explore working with Trajectory is to simply reach out for an introductory call. Send an email or give us a ring to share a bit about your business and goals for a new website. This kicks off a conversational process to see if Trajectory might be a good fit to partner on your web design project.

On that initial call, we aim to learn more about your brand, target audiences, content needs and measures of success. We can provide an overview of our process, services and pricing. This open exchange sets the stage to evaluate if our agency's approach aligns with your vision and needs.

If both parties wish to move forward, we'll outline next steps for an official kickoff. We want the path to exploring a partnership with Trajectory to be as straightforward as possible.

How do you maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure long-term partnerships?

Trajectory values building trusted, long-lasting relationships with our clients. To maintain strong partnerships over time, we make consistent communication a priority throughout each project and beyond launch. During the design process, we keep clients looped in through calls, emails, demos and feedback opportunities. Once the site is live, we schedule quarterly check-ins to review website analytics, discuss new initiatives and address any issues. We also perform periodic site audits to optimize performance and enhance security as needed. Our clients have an open line to contact us anytime for questions, updates or troubleshooting. We aim to provide exemplary service long after a site goes live via ongoing maintenance, support and continuing education. These practices of open dialogue, proactive improvements and reliable assistance foster lasting bonds between Trajectory and our clients.
